Lots of people are trying to recreate the sound of vintage cymbals. I would argue that the Zildjian A Avedis series are some of the best recreations out there. 

The patina they used was a little hard to control and part of the reason they discontinued the line me suspects.

At any rate, these 'A's' are like nothing in the modern Zildjian catalog. Silky smooth, evenly EQ'd, and a pleasure to play. Think of them as a fancier version of the do-it-all hi hat.
